Minister: New sanctions may hit Russian nuclear power

BRUSSELS, Jan 23 (PRIME) -- The new E.U. sanctions package may include restrictions against the entire Russian nuclear power industry, including Rosatom, personal and sectorial measures, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said on Monday.

"The negotiations are not finished, discussions were held yesterday at night,” he said.

“I can only say that there are names (in the tenth package), some sectorial sanctions… It is important for me personally that we returned to an earlier discussion about Rosatom. We can indeed slap sanctions on the entire nuclear power sector and its key firm Rosatom."

He also said that sanctions against Russia will be merged with sanctions against Belarus in order to prevent sanctions avoidance.
